My Health Journey to be Just Fit for Life
Welcome to Just Fit for Life! Do you love change or do you dread it? A fresh new year brings change…in fact change is inevitable! Interestingly, I have found, and maybe you have too, is that the one thing in life that is constant is (ironically) change! So why should I change now and begin a new health and fitness blog? What could I have to share that hasn’t already been said?
Well, to be honest, MY story! And who doesn’t enjoy a good story?!
Are you in the stage of peri-menopause or post-menopause?
Do you struggle with symptoms like lack of sleep, fatigue, frustrating weight gain, pain everywhere and generally not feeling great?
Do you struggle with making healthy meals, especially that the whole family will enjoy?
Do you struggle with being “just fit for life”?
That was my story, and my journey that started at least 10 years ago. Of course, staying healthy and fit has been somewhat of a challenge over the years. Working outside the home, having babies, trying to juggle it all, like every mom can be a struggle.
However, things got a bit more chronic and frustrating in the last 8-10 years. The whole new world of menopause added a colourful twist to the “stay fit challenge”! This led to my search for real answers to help me get back to “me”, the person I used to be that was somehow lost in the busyness of raising a family. I needed to feel good again and enjoy life to the full! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED raising my five awesome kids, and still do, but there comes a time when you need to get back to some of the things that you were passionate about in those younger years.
Aging started to feel a bit um, well not great! And I thought that aging should not be this awful experience! So the quest began. I honestly felt like I had tried everything! The fact is, my health, my fitness level, my body changed SO many times in my 50+ years it was hard to know what was normal and what was old & what was new! As women, that really is even more true since our bodies go through incredible changes.
I got to a point, however, that I was in so much pain, it was becoming to be like, one area of pain would disappear and another one would pop up somewhere else! It was seriously like one of those “club the gopher” games at the fair! Thankfully, with perseverance, reading, researching, I never stopped until I found the right doctor, physiotherapist or other specialist to help solve some key problems. I am SO grateful that I was able to get control of the problem areas and get some healing. One of the amazing answers I found was through nutrition and exercise. That, and a fun, healthy community of women to go with on this journey. It is indeed a journey, but it is so worth it to navigate all the bumps along the road until you find your stride.
So if this speaks to you, then join me as I share what I hope will be a hope-filled message of “yes you CAN stay fit for life!” I guarantee it can be fun, simple and SO rewarding! The quest is worth it! Let’s journey together!
